What is the Substance Abuse Prevention Skills Training?

• Foundational course of study in substance abuse prevention
• Innovative training that blends a five-hour, self-paced online module and followed by a four-day/
26-hour interactive, in-person training
• Designed for entry-level prevention practitioners working in states, jurisdictions, tribes and
communities; also appropriate for professionals working in related fields

 Provides guidance for implementing each of the five steps of the SAMSHA Strategic Prevention
Framework (assessment, capacity building, planning, implementation and evaluation)
Training Requirements
 Completion of a mandatory online course prior to the four day, in-person training. More information on this online course will be provided upon registration.
 Must attend all four days of in-person training to receive certificate of attendance
