What is the Substance Abuse Prevention Skills Training?
• Foundational course of study in substance abuse prevention
• Innovative training that blends a five-hour, self-paced online module and followed by a four-day/
26-hour interactive, in-person training
• Designed for entry-level prevention practitioners working in states, jurisdictions, tribes and
communities; also appropriate for professionals working in related fields
Provides guidance for implementing each of the five steps of the SAMSHA Strategic Prevention
Framework (assessment, capacity building, planning, implementation and evaluation)
Completion of a mandatory online course prior to the four day, in-person training. More information on this online course will be provided upon registration.
Must attend all four days of in-person training to receive certificate of attendance
