Vision Statement
We will actively work toward the acceptance of a diverse and healthy community that recognized the negative impact of alcohol and other drug abuse. To accomplish this, we must join hands to: -Promote positive environments; -Coordinate AODA prevention efforts; -Encourage healthy lifestyles that are sensitive to the various ethnic, cultural, and other special populations within the communities located in Kenosha County.Mission Statement
The mission of the Concerned Citizens Coalition on Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse for Greater Kenosha is to eliminate substance abuse in Kenosha County by coordinating educational programs, events, and resources so that families engage in healthy lifestyles.Goal and Objectives
The CCC will: -Further develop the Teen Task Force, a group of youth from various areas of Kenosha County. Their mission is to: 1) Provide a safe and healthy environment as an alternative to teen alcohol and other drug use/abuse; 2) Increase ATOD prevention education to youth and to offer experiences where youth become peer leaders in the field of prevention; 3) Serve the community in which they live; 4) Train youth to lead ATOD prevention programs with children and youth; 5) Instill cooperative skills and competencies; 6) Provide peer-to-peer assistance and mentoring opportunities to enhance positive youth development. -Strengthen AOD prevention by supporting and assisting with programs and resources for youth, families, and community residents. -Maintain Drug-Free School Zone signs. -Co-sponsor the annual Kenosha County Red Ribbon Campaign and assist with the annual Kenosha County ATOD Awareness Week activities with the Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities Program (KUSD). -Build CCC capacity.Regular Meetings
Board of Directors meets six times a year plus which icludes an annual Coalition meeting. The Teen Task Force meets twice a month.Funding Sources
The CCC is a DFC grantee. The CCC receives in-kind contributions from education, small business, law enforcement, and a local agency assists with ATOD resources and programs. BFI funding supports the Teen Task Force Advisor and management team during the community service project. Community Foundation and local service groups help to support annual programs and activities. Support from the Brighters Future Initiative provides a part-time Advisor. Kemper Center, a county government owned park and meeting/conference area, provides space for the teens to meet.Activities or Programming
