Mission Statement

High Expectations is a centralized prevention agency that addresses issues and concerns affecting the youth of Dodge County and the surrounding area. High Expectations works to increase family resiliency and organization capacity. The mission of High Expectations is to support youth and youth serving organizations through asset developoment and capacity buiding to increase skill levels and decrease risk taking behaviors: drugs, alcohol, tobacco use, sexual behavior, truancy, violence, etc. We believe: -Youth are valuable assets and the future of our community. -Reducing underage use of alcohol, durgs and saving sex until marriage will improve the health of youth and prevent chronic disease, mental illness and violence. -Parents need to communicate with and create boudnaries for their children. -Public health prevention methodologies are the only framework proven to reduce risk taking behaviors. -Community members of all ages can benefit from programs that build developmental assets. An increase in community assets will ensure a healthier and safer community. -High Expectations staff will act as change agents to support community change.

Goal and Objectives

High Expectations uses the following strategies as the local leader for community youth: -Empower youth by providing opportunities for them to recognize their abilities, grain new skills, and have an impact on the community. -Stabalize young people's families by providing parents with comprehensive skill trainings. -Engage youth and build developmental assets and skills in the community through: teachers, parents, leaders, organizations, media, peers, and anyone else who will listen. -Promote volunteer opportunities to reduce risk taking behaviors, prevent juvenile delinquency, and improve the life of youth. -Enrich young people's environments by providing local youth-serving organizations with the capacity to network, organize, and obtain funding. -Engage the community by partnering with community groups to create change in order to improve the health of youth and the community. -Build High Expectations into a strong, innovative public health prevention organization to support youth.

Funding Sources

High Expectations is a Drug Free Communities Coalition receiving Drug Free Communities Federal Funding. The goals of the coalition are also supported through Compassion Captial Funding and Community Based Abstinence Education funding. The community also supports the coalitions efforts through funds and in kind donations.
